Stretching
Stretching is a concept deeply rooted in our consciousness as an activity related to the tendons. However, the development of the tendons consists in creating a certain resistance within them so as to preserve their tenacity, and not inversely dispense with it. The latter would very soon lead to decaying of the bones and muscles. Stretching is a phenomenon disruptive for man. If man’s body is not flexible enough, then the problem does not lie within his tendons but within his very nature – his behaviour and nourishment.
The development of the tendons is not physical but manifestly mental. Working with the tendons is very much like working on the roots of the vine where you have to teach the plant to nourish from within, teach the system to extend and seek the source of energy.
We must understand that the state of elasticity and flexibility of the tendons is achieved not by stretching but by working on the interior of the tendons – this is how we can preserve their strength. Stretching in fact does the contrary – it consumes energy, which at the same time disrupts the structure of the tendons, their measure. If we disrupt the measure of the tendons, we actually disturb their angle and consequently the circulation of the energy both in the whole organism and in the tendons group.
The energy within the tendons group is much more complicated than that of the muscles. In order to be able to understand these processes man must have developed a unified body, i.e. he must have developed the ability to control the volume of the muscles. Only then can we move on to working on the tendons. Tendons should not be developed fragmentarily or else we disrupt the unified tension that connects our body from the feet to the crown of the head.
This is one of the reasons why stretching has a negative effect – because sometimes people overstretch certain tendon groups or they overstretch the tendons of both legs. The loose tendon is then controlled by the muscles and soon enough it perishes together with the muscle (unlike tendons, muscles have a limited development resource).
Improperly developed tendons leads not only to a disruption of the movement function (hyper function) but also to a disturbance of the immobile tendon groups, which leads to problems related to the internal organs – for example the womb, the liver, the kidneys, which are either pulled up by the ligaments or let down, in other words we get a displacement of the organs. Therefore, we can say that stretching endangers the vitality not only of the tissues but also of the organs these tissues are attached to.
On top of that overstretched tendons are no longer nourished completely since the overstretching disrupts the volume of the tendons. People who constantly stretch their tendons become dependent on these constant stretches so as to drive the energy through the tendons, which increases the blood flow towards the tissues of the tendons and muscles. What is extremely important is to be careful not to break the crystal structure of the tendons and to develop their resilience and shrinking. In other words, we need to preserve the resistance of the tissues.
Questions and answers
I practice wushu, which involves the development of the elasticity of the tendons through stretching yet it turns out that this destroys them? Or is this not applicable to wushu? Is there a correct way of stretching?
In order to start stretching correctly you must stop stretching. Wushu is a sport and has nothing to do with development.
