Spirituality

How do you define the term ‘spirituality’?

I would like to start by saying that I consider this a rather personal topic. Talking about ‘spirituality’ is a very dangerous undertaking. Spirituality is something one must first and foremost define for himself. When we subject these questions to public discussions, we start speculating with terms that lie beyond the limits of the linear form.

Spirituality is a rather substantial term, which cannot be discussed in simple terms. Why is this? The reason is that people do not even understand the notion of identification rhythm, while the concepts we are dealing with here lie beyond the limits of analysis.

The risk here does not lie in the fact that we will call someone a spiritual or a non-spiritual person but rather in the fact that we won’t cultivate a personal attitude to this issue.

Even if we live in the field of spiritual people, if we live in the tasks or in the faith related to these process, this would not be a sufficient prerequisite for spirituality. However without all this, what we are discussing remains simply an abstraction. People often mix the notions of spirituality and faith - they believe that the Man of faith is a spiritual man, and they call the non-believer or the ‘moderate believer’ non-spiritual. This is a very dangerous theory and it has already generated intolerance between certain religions and irreconcilable conflicts within some denominations – which is even worse.

How can a person who is not guided by tasks and decisions, controlled by the mind, a person who depends on emotional forms of existence, how can he operate with spirituality? He can do it only in terms of the laws and proportions he applies to everything else. To me, for example, people who sell Coca-Cola, and parents who let their children drink various chemical mixtures, are physically distant from spirituality because they burn the energy that should be linked to spirituality.

In my view, all the people who cannot think, who cannot show respect for the space they inhabit, are not spiritual people either. However this is a fact. You cannot appeal to someone to become a spiritual man nor blame him for the lack of spirituality, which comes as a result of various reasons. For example we can say that a soccer player who kisses the field and makes the sign of the cross will hardly find a higher spirituality. This is a question every one of us should solve for himself. And if he doesn’t, then spirituality will be a fact resulting from the conditions of our existence.

Spirituality is a bridge that takes us from our birth to the point of transition into another state. If we destroy this bridge our spirituality will simply serve as a fertilizer. Today it takes just three years to teach people how to lose the depth of their breathing, to torture them and teach them rules that do not correspond to their living rhythm. Living in this disrupted rhythm, we finish ourselves off. This is actually a medical issue, so if you are really interested in spirituality, you must first understand what stands in your way. Because who stands in your way is already clear.

In fact, if you had asked the same question fifteen years ago, I would have come up with a series of revolutionary slogans like: ‘Be spiritual!’ and ‘Down with the evil’. However today I want to say that revolutionary measures will not solve the problem, nor will evolutionary ones. And to the few ones who really care about this, I want to say: maintain the state of excitement and the wave might carry you over to the right place where could step on solid ground and start walking on your own.

Questions and answers

You say that we should not talk of spirituality, energy and other such esoteric notions, which we cannot define; that we must not believe in words. However to me words like ‘axis’, ‘centrality, ‘concentration’, ‘geometry’ are equally incomprehensible… Perhaps everyone defines these in relation to their own experience, which means that while striving to develop for example ‘the axis’ one might end up with what he had in the very beginning. Therefore, being at the first level, I expect for something to happen, however my task is to build something – but what, I do not know! So if I do not have the proper reference point all I can do is believe?

Every person represents a physics of perception. The rougher the energy, the rougher the perception. And until we refine our perception, all we can do is believe it exists. At the same time we must pick out the physical parameters we understand and we must start from there. If you do not understand what axis is, then perhaps you can understand symmetry even on the level of, for example, your left hand being less skilful than the right. If you do not understand concentration, that’s OK, but if you do not understand what attention is, then this is your own problem. This is why it is so important to understand the algorithm of existence and not simply its instruments. Of course on the first level you should rely on someone who can correct you, otherwise this level will never end.
