Arabic dance: an ecstatic experience
The dance is not just a movement, but a transformation. In order to achieve this transformation, it is necessary to reveal the body and take it under control. A woman must control the dance with her womb and a man with his mind. If the dancer doesn't pay attention to this and go into sensations, the movements will enslave him/her. In this case, it is possible that the dancer manages to follow the movements and even express them, but he/she will not be able to control them. In any case, a person is able to enjoy sensations or experience.
It is impossible to know the experience, without knowing the proportion. The proportion is the Method. The dance is a deep inner state which can be experienced only after it has been expressed. A beginner who is starting to dance must come to know the condition of the dance, and also the state of his body and mind, which are implemented in the dance. A dance without the awareness of a unity, which must be a result of the process of a long preparatory work, is just а funny way to move around.
The modern woman is practically not ready to dance because she considers dancing an external emotion, rather than an internal feeling. Actually, the real dance requires a lot of effort to bring the mind and body of a woman at thе starting point.
The problem with the study of the dance is the wrong attitude towards it and the lack of understanding of the different levels of depth through which you can get by. A woman is not able to go deep into the dance because she can not escape from her own sensuality and intuitive conditions which put her under veil. The mistake of a dancer is his misunderstanding of the nature of sensations which leads to the nurturance of a bigger misunderstanding.
The way to the dance should go through yoga. This means to construct and realize each movement, so the actions can be balanced. Of course, this should not be based on a composition of technical movements, but on the Method where the woman should get to know the balance in the beginning.
The development is possible only in these conditions, and then comes the transformation which leads to a deeper understanding of the experience.
